Introducing Wedding Planner Erganic Design and Living

August 1, 2014

I Do PR is proud to introduce and welcome New York-based event designer Erganic Design and Living.

Crafting captivating wedding experiences with décor, floral arrangements, and personal details, Erganic Design and Living prides itself on holistically creating luxurious wedding settings. Their tag line is “We’re architects and industrial designers, who produce spectacular event experiences. Fusing fashion, art & visual design, your event is a one-of-a kind luxury of the imagination.”

Warm Hued Wedding Decor

Who is Erganic Design?

Sojourner and Milo from Erganic Living
Happily married co-founders Sojourner and Milo Auguste were inspired to begin Erganic from their previous backgrounds. Sojourner used her skills from retail architecture when planning their wedding and discovered her passion for design and project management. And Milo’s past experience with Information Technology had taught him business planning and management tools. Together, the couple and their team work together to architect a cohesive and unique event through seamless planning and event décor.

“Maybe it’s because we love love; maybe it’s because we love marriage,” said Sojourner. “Or maybe it’s because we’re dreamers, who love a great story of how two people meet (our story is a fun one)! Maybe it’s because we both make up words to fit a feeling or mood (like yumminess, texturality, or app-i-fied), because things just have to—fit—perfectly.”

Orange and Gray Decor

The company is making a name for itself in the wedding industry because of its exquisite attention to detail and ability to create one-of-a-kind wedding experiences for its clients.

From the pre-nuptial planning and engagements to the day-after brunch, Erganic assists couples in shaping their wedding or destination wedding. Using their extensive list of vendors, Erganic combines the specialties of various wedding vendors with its design concept to create a one-of-a-kind wedding for each couple.

Purple Wedding Decor

“Greening your wedding doesn’t have to mean sacrificing quality,” explains Sojourner. “It just means thinking through ideas carefully.”

Erganic prides itself on its sustainable values. “Greening” a wedding is just a conscientious way of decorating without sacrificing decorations that radiate elegance. Repurposing décor and using locally seasonal flowers are just some of the company’s eco-friendly habits.

“Our motto: Conscious design for beautiful living,” said Sojourner. “When brides and grooms are thoughtful about how to minimize waste from their celebration, it excites us!”

Erganic Design in the Press

As if the growing popularity of Erganic’s events weren’t enough, publications like Glamour and Brides have already featured Erganic’s wedding planning advice just a few weeks after we began working together.

Erganic featured by Glamour

When Black Bride was planning its inaugural print issue, the editors turned to Erganic to design a gorgeous New York City event for its editorial pages. The issue comes out later this month and we can’t wait to see Erganic’s work in print!

Oh So Inspired Wedding Industry Event Launches in Sonoma

July 20, 2014

It isn’t often when a new 3-day wedding industry conference makes an appearance and it’s especially rare when that happens in our own backyard. So we were very excited to hear about the launch of Oh So Inspired, a 3-day learning retreat  for new and established creative professionals looking to ignite passion for their wedding business. The retreat will be hosted in Sonoma’s popular wedding venue (which also hosts a culinary school), Ramekins on November 3-5, 2014.

The event will feature several superstar speakers, including celebrity planner Marcy Blum and photographer KT Merry.

Oh So Inspire Speakers

We got a chance to catch up with Mary Phan of The Sketchbook Series, one of the creators of Oh So Inspired along with Nancy Liu Chin of Nancy Liu Chin Designs and Kelly McLeskey-Dolata of A Savvy Event.

I DO PR: Oh So Inspired is a collaborative effort between several industry pros. How did it all come together?

Mary Phan: Oh So Inspired was sparked when Nancy Liu Chin of Nancy Liu Chin Designs, Kelly McLeskey-Dolata of A Savvy Event and I got together to share how each of us reignited a passion for our work.  For Kelly, it meant remembering that her goal was to provide her clients with a unique event — each one a stand-out because of her care and creativity.  Nancy needed to challenge herself again—delving deeper to create original designs that might perhaps serve as motivation for others.  My journey took me back to my roots as a sketch artist, but also down a new path as a teacher.

Oh So Inspired

Why do you feel there is a need for an event like this?

MP: For us, the inspiration necessary to take our work and business to the next level sparked a desire to bring a different kind of learning.  This is what we hope to share with our Oh So Inspired attendees, a way to find that something within. Perhaps it will click during the sharing of stories, or an AH-HAH moment will strike after hearing one of our presenters speak, or maybe you’ll awaken the inner artist after participating in one of the many interactive lessons or better yet, when you get to participate in our styled photoshoot.

How is Oh So Inspired similar and different from other multi-day conferences such as Engage and others?

MP: engage! is a phenomenal conference catered to the luxury wedding market and we are huge fans!  Just like engage!, we feel like attendees will walk away with great connections, feeling inspired, and learning something new from the best of the best!

For those wanting more of an intimate retreat, Oh So Inspired was designed to build on those smaller sessions and allow the opportunity to meet each and every participant.  We feel that the hands-on learning portion allows each participant to engage with all the senses and this retreat promises to leave everyone feeling Oh So Inspired.

Sketchbook Series Sketch Table

Who should attend and what should they expect to get out of this event?

MP: Anyone looking to elevate their business, build stronger bonds within the industry, or even those who feel like they need a break from a long and hard season.  We believe that you’ll leave learning something new, making genuine friendships, and more excited than ever to take your creative business to the next level.

Oh So Inspired includes a Sketchbook Series workshop, which you have done separately earlier this year. How did you come up with the concept for The Sketchbook Series?

MP: The Sketchbook Series started with my passion for sketching.  I had always enjoyed this process and with my interior design background, I knew this was something I wanted to teach others in our industry. My goal with The Sketchbook Series is to help creative professionals learn this skill so they too can be effective visual communicators.

The Sketchbook Series is designed for beginners and those who have a passion to give their clients a one of a kind experience. It has been such a powerful tool for me personally, and what I believe to be crucial for today’s top level designers, planners, caterers, florists, hotels, and other creative event professionals interfacing with clients.

Sketchbook Series

How do attendees translate what they’ve learned in The Sketchbook Series to their job?

MP: After my 2-day workshop, attendees feel inspired, confident, and walk away with a sense of pride, creating beautiful masterpieces.  More importantly,  they’ve learned a skill they can use to share with their clients and vendors.  I’m constantly amazed at the sketches that have been produced after having taken my class and how useful the class has been.  I’ve received such great feedback and have even had requests for a follow-up 2.0 Class!  This is a huge testament to how important it is as creative industry to be able to showcase our ideas onto paper.

Is the Sketchbook Series a regular event now?

MP: We’re busy planning our calendar with select cities for 2015, and for those who aren’t able to join us live – we have plans to have an online version sometime in 2015 with pre-sales happening now.  We’ve been asked to be a part of many exciting conferences and retreats and feel privileged for these opportunities.  Our last San Francisco class is planned for September 2014 and you can find upcoming classes via our website at www.thesketchbookseries.com.

Mary Phan sketch

Before we let you go sketch, what are you personally looking forward to the most at Oh So Inspired?

MP: I’m looking forward to meeting all our attendees and learning something new, especially partaking in the calligraphy class with Maybelle and floral lesson with Nancy Liu Chin!!  More importantly, I can’t wait to share and connect with each and every person at Oh So Inspired!

Peter Langner’s Spring 2015 Collection Wows in New York

July 10, 2014

Italian bridal couture designer Peter Langner has an established presence in Europe, and has been quickly rising in the U.S. This April, the brand hosted a bridal fashion show at New York International Bridal Week and we were lucky to attend.

Peter Langner’s Spring 2015 Collection caused quite a stir in the wedding industry. With an exquisite attention to detail, Langner is wowed with his truly Italian tailoring excellence. Combining innovative concepts with handmade tradition, Langner uses only the finest and most exclusive fabrics that are truly made for dresses. He describes his work as a continued exercise of patience, constancy, and determination, making every gown unique in its creation.

We caught up with Peter to learn more about the vision for his brand.

Peter Langner Portrait

I DO PR: Who is a Peter Langner bride?

Peter Langner: We do not dress one specific customer or bride. I don’t think that everything is about “romance” or “contemporary”. Our clients are usually looking for a very interesting and different look. They do their research and want to wear a different gown than their friends in the past. All our gowns have a very specific mood and setting. There are gowns for a beach wedding as well as a cathedral wedding. We like to be universal and not all about “country” setting or  “city” setting.

You hosted a wonderful runway show in the spring. Do you have plans to show during the Fall Bridal Market?

PL: We usually show only in April, as we use the Fall to assist our stores to sell our gowns. I don’t think it is smart to create two collections and the stores cannot absorb all the new designs and really work with the gowns in their store. We run after fashion before we even have time to look at it and feel the beauty of it.

PETER LANGNER front and back

What distinguishes your brand from other high-end bridal designers showing in New York?

PL: We are one of the very few European designers showing in the US in the past 20 years on a continuous basis. Our gowns are all handmade in Italy with a very international vision and feeling. We might be a bit more trendy than other more commercial companies, but we place a lot of energy in research of materials and fabrication and cut.

Your brand is sold in several countries – where is your brand particularly popular and why?

PL: We sell all around the world and each culture has a different need and approach. There is not one market which is bigger or smaller for us. That is the great asset we have, and at the same our biggest problem. We trade to a Japanese client that does only rental business as well as the U.S. market, which really lives off reorders and has to guarantee a client a reorder for many years.

PETER LANGNER BRIDAL back detail

What do you see as the biggest differences between European and U.S. markets?

PL: The U.S. market is very focused on the “star system”: whatever a star is wearing should work on a lot of other brides. Unfortunately, that works out in the least amount of cases because the budget is usually very different. So in the end, you are left with a copy of someone else’s wedding.

Italy has very strong roots in its religious culture and has difficulty getting away from that. So fashion is often left out of the bride’s choice, but slowly we are getting there and being able to travel easier does help change the attitude toward shopping as well.

PETER LANGNER Gown and Short dress

What should we expect to see from Peter Langner in the coming year?

PL: I have NO idea! We will see!

Last but certainly not least. What’s your dream vacation destination?

PL: My own country home. I travel a lot during the year and when I finally can rest, I really love to stay home. If we do travel for pleasure, I love to go to Ibiza in the Fall or winter. It is a beautiful setting and very quiet.
